Nick Bell

Lover of all things historical and 4-legged

Nick moved to the Historic Old Northeast in 2019 after visiting St. Pete and falling in love with it’s “big little city” atmosphere and its appreciation for historical neighborhoods. He has made it a point to be civically engaged wherever he’s lived, serving on local boards and neighborhood associations. He’s been a member of the Historic Old Northeast Neighborhood Association Board since 2020 and its president since 2023.

His love for the historical has been a life-long passion and shared by both of his brothers. His 1929 Old Northeast colonial revival home is his fourth historic residential renovation. It was named the St. Pete City Beautification Award winner for Home of the Year in 2022. Nick moved to the Sunshine City from San Francisco, where he had a 25-year career in tech marketing. While enjoying all that the Bay Area had to offer, he spent much of his spare time renovating an 1886 Stick-Eastlake Victorian house that was badly in need of saving. The home has since been featured in two books that highlight significant San Francisco historic homes. His other two labors of love were a 1911 3-story four-square in Kansas City and a 1920’s brick bungalow in Atlanta. All four homes have been featured in local historic home tours.

When not working on a home renovation, Nick likes to focus on his second passion – gardening. He says his love for getting his hands dirty is thanks to his grandmother, Ma Bell, who always maintained a large vegetable and flower garden on her farm in Northwest Missouri. He’s an active member of the Old Northeast Garden Club.
Nick developed his love for animals as a child growing up on his family’s rural Missouri farm. He’s no longer surrounded by livestock, but he’s never without at least one or two four-legged companions. Duncan is his third Airedale Terrier and Mayo is a white 10-lb cat that runs the household and loves to terrorize the Terrier.
